Hi Lucas,
Thank you for your message.
What you’re seeing is the correct and intended behavior of the Atmotube Air Quality Score (AQS). Our scale is designed so that:
As pollution increases, the score decreases.
So a value of 100 means the air is as clean as it can be, while lower values indicate increasing pollution and potential health impact. This is not a bug - this is how the system is meant to work.
This AQS system has been in use since it was originally designed in 2015, and it remains consistent across all Atmotube applications.
It’s also important to note that AQS is a real-time score, based on the current sensor readings. It is not a 12-hour or 24-hour moving average, so it reacts immediately to changes in pollution levels.
This differs from traditional government AQI (Air Quality Index) systems, where higher numbers mean worse air quality and values are often based on longer-term averaging for regulatory alerts. AQS is designed for daily personal health awareness and real-time exposure tracking.
For users who prefer traditional air quality scales, we plan to introduce standard AQI-style indexes in future versions of the app. This option already existed in the Atmotube PRO 1 Android application, and based on our usage statistics, fewer than 2% of users chose to switch from AQS to a standard AQI view. This confirms that most users prefer the health-oriented AQS format.
We have the following indexes implemented:
AQS
AQI (US)
CAQI (Europe)
DAQI (UK)
AQI (Mainland China)
AQHI (Canada)
AQI (Australia)
CAI (South Korea)
PSI (Singapore)
AQHI (Hong Kong)
AQI (India)
Every expert in the industry disagrees with this reverse scale and it’s very confusing for the user
I have many air monitors and they all go in the correct direction
Can you please enter a line of code into the app that allows us to choose the correct direction?
Also is there a way be notified via email when I reply is on here?
Thanx, Lucas
Hi Lucas,
As mentioned earlier, this feature is available on Atmotube PRO (1st generation). In the Android app, please open Settings and select the “index” option. I’ve attached a screenshot for your convenience.
Industry experts are currently collaborating on a new open standard for indoor air quality, as my colleagues mentioned earlier. The initiative is open to everyone, and you’re welcome to join the discussion at https://goaqs.org
Within the group, there is already agreement that a “higher is better” scale (e.g., 10 > 0) is the most intuitive approach.
You can see the organizations participating here: Endorsements – GO AQS , and the committee members here: Committee – GO AQS
When I go to settings, I don’t see an option for “Index”
What does that do?
Also, is there a way to be notified when my post on here gets a response?
This company deserves so much better than this forum and that error in the app. As a content creator I’m sent and/or proposed so much junk on a daily basis, much of which sells better than the Atmotube. If didn’t love this product then I wouldn’t care to bring this to your attention. This forum is unresponsive and unvisited, if someone could email me with a clear response that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Lucas

Hi Lucas,
We appreciate your feedback. The index option is currently available in the Atmotube PRO app, and it is on our roadmap to bring this feature to the Atmotube PRO 2 app as well.
This doesn’t address the issue at all
I did however notice that your team enabled email notifications on this forum, nice!
I just bought the Atmo pro 2. I also agree with Lucas. I also have indoor air monitors which use the European scale. I find this reverse scale VERY confusing. Eventually i can get used to it. But it is so opposite to all other measurements. Hopefully your new app will look into a change. Or at least a choice we might have.
Please let us know when the new app will be done.
